The 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV is set to start deliveries this summer, featuring a diverse lineup that caters to various preferences and needs. The electric mid-size SUV offers options for front-, rear-, and all-wheel-drive powertrains, along with regular 2LT and RS trims, as well as SS performance variants. A particularly interesting addition to the Blazer EV lineup is the Police Pursuit Vehicle (PPV) version, which is expected to arrive in early 2024.
The Blazer EV PPV is based on GM’s Ultium architecture and shares components with the Blazer EV SS, although it is slightly less powerful than the 557-horsepower SS variant. The dual-motor electric powertrain in the Blazer EV PPV is capable of producing up to 498 horsepower and 531 pound-feet of torque. It features a standard 105-kilowatt-hour battery pack that provides a GM-estimated range of 250 miles on a full charge when equipped with the necessary emergency equipment.
GM Envolve’s video highlights several key features of the Blazer EV PPV. The vehicle boasts a 50/50 front-to-rear weight distribution and a low center of gravity, designed to make it agile and responsive, characteristics essential for a pursuit vehicle. The Blazer EV PPV utilizes a 400-volt heavy-duty electrical architecture and includes various standard police features such as a heavy-duty suspension, underbody skid plates, Firestone Firehawk Pursuit tires on 20-inch steel wheels, and 6-piston Brembo front brake calipers on 15.3-inch rotors.
Inside, the Blazer EV PPV offers police-specific features including certified speedometer, contoured cloth front seats for duty belts, vinyl rear seat with heavy-duty vinyl flooring, center console delete, and more.
In terms of charging capabilities, the Blazer EV PPV comes standard with a Level 2, 240-volt plug-in charger that can add 23 miles of range per hour at 32 amps. Additionally, the vehicle is equipped for 400V DC fast charging at 190 kW, enabling a rapid charge of up to 71 miles of range in just 10 minutes or 141 miles in approximately 30 minutes.
The video showcases various other features of the Chevrolet Blazer EV PPV, including standard and available accessories such as an interior partition, spot lamp, corner lighting, rear liftgate warning lights, and more. Overall, the Blazer EV PPV aims to offer law enforcement agencies a capable and efficient electric pursuit vehicle option.
