The Jaguar I-Pace, the automaker’s first electric vehicle (EV), is set to be discontinued by 2025 as Jaguar prepares to introduce its next-generation EVs, according to reports. Adrian Mardell, CEO of Jaguar parent company JLR, reportedly confirmed the decision to drop the I-Pace, although the exact timing of its discontinuation is still being determined.
Jaguar had initially planned to keep the I-Pace on sale alongside the new lineup of EVs, but now the company aims to start afresh with a new slate of electric vehicles. The I-Pace, which was launched in 2019, has received updates over the years and a 2022 model-year refresh that improved its charging speed and user interface.
Instead of continuing with the I-Pace, Jaguar is focusing on developing a trio of new electric crossovers based on a new platform. These upcoming models are expected to be more upscale than the I-Pace and will be part of Jaguar’s strategy to transition its lineup toward electric mobility.
Jaguar’s decision to discontinue the I-Pace reflects the rapidly evolving nature of the electric vehicle market, with automakers constantly seeking to improve and update their offerings to stay competitive and align with changing consumer preferences and technological advancements.
