Leaked Images of 2025 Kia EV5 Electric SUV Surface in China, Showcasing Concept Fidelity

The highly anticipated Kia EV5 electric compact SUV has recently been leaked in photos from the Chinese market, where it is soon to be launched. These images provide a detailed look at the exterior design of the EV5, showcasing its futuristic and modern styling.

The production version of the Kia EV5 closely resembles the concept version that was unveiled earlier this year, with only minor adjustments. Notable changes include the addition of traditional side mirrors, flush door handles (as opposed to the concept’s handle-free design), slightly smaller wheels, and minor revisions to the headlights and taillights.

Compared to its concept counterpart, the production Kia EV5 maintains its distinct character while being adapted for real-world road use. Although these images depict the Chinese market variant, it’s likely that the EV5’s design will remain consistent across other markets as well.

One of the standout aspects of the Kia EV5’s design is its upright SUV body style, setting it apart from the raised hatchback appearance of its sibling, the EV6. In many ways, the EV5 takes inspiration from Kia’s larger EV, the EV9, with both models sharing the E-GMP electric platform.

The EV5’s dimensions are noteworthy, measuring approximately 181.7 inches in length, 73.8 inches in width, and 67.5 inches in height. These dimensions put it in line with the EV6’s length and width, but with a higher profile and a slightly shorter wheelbase of 108.2 inches.

The leaked images also provided insights into the powertrain. The Chinese-market version of the Kia EV5 will be powered by a rear-mounted electric motor, producing 215 horsepower (160 kilowatts) and 229 pound-feet of torque. Notably, this version features an LFP (lithium-iron-phosphate) Blade battery, supplied by BYD subsidiary Xiangyang Fudi Battery Co (FinDreams).

While the official details for other markets are yet to be confirmed, it’s suggested that the international version of the Kia EV5 might come equipped with an 82-kilowatt-hour NMC battery pack, providing a potential range of up to 373 miles.

The Kia EV5 is set to be produced in China by the Kia-Yueda joint venture, where it will be manufactured at the Yancheng plant. This facility will serve as the base for producing EV5 units for both the Chinese market and export to other markets, underscoring the model’s global appeal.

The official debut of the Kia EV5 is scheduled to take place at the Chengdu Motor Show on August 25, where more details about its specifications, features, and pricing are expected to be revealed. Pre-sales for the EV5 are anticipated to commence in November, adding to the growing lineup of electric vehicles in Kia’s portfolio.
