Anticipated Return of Audi RS6 Sedan as an Electric Vehicle (EV) in 2025

The Audi RS6 sedan is set to make a comeback in 2025, but this time as a fully electric model. For the past 13 years, the RS6 has only been available in Avant (wagon) form, with the last RS6 sedan being produced in 2010 and featuring a V10 engine shared with the Lamborghini Gallardo and Audi R8.

According to reports from AutoCar, the electric Audi RS6 sedan is expected to go on sale in 2025, following the launch of the A6 e-tron. The RS6 EV has already been spotted undergoing testing, and it’s anticipated to offer significantly more power than the current combustion-engine RS6 model.

Similar to the A6 e-tron, the electric RS6 sedan will be built on the Volkswagen Group’s new Premium Platform Electric (PPE) chassis. The initial vehicle to utilize this platform will be the Porsche Macan EV, which is scheduled to debut later this year.

The A6 e-tron concept was revealed in 2021, boasting an estimated WLTP range of 435 miles, surpassing the range of Audi’s current electric offerings. The A6 e-tron is also projected to support 270-kilowatt fast charging, enabling an impressive 186 miles of range to be added in just 10 minutes.

The A6 e-tron will feature a dual-motor setup with around 470 horsepower, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in approximately 4 seconds. Additionally, a rear-wheel drive entry-level model is expected to be offered for optimal efficiency. In the case of the RS6 variant, its electric powertrain is likely to deliver over 700 horsepower, resulting in a sub 3-second 0-60 mph acceleration time, in order to compete effectively with the growing competition in the performance EV segment.
