Impressive Range Achieved: Dual-Motor Rivian R1S and R1T Obtain up to 352-Mile EPA Range

The official EPA range ratings for the Dual-Motor versions of the Rivian R1S electric SUV and R1T electric pickup truck have been revealed, both achieving a maximum range of 352 miles. This range rating is achieved with the 135-kWh Large Pack and 21-inch wheels. If 22-inch wheels are chosen, the range drops to 341 miles for both models. These range figures surpass what Rivian had initially teased and previewed for these models.

The Dual-Motor powertrain generates 533 horsepower and 610 lb-ft of torque in standard form, enabling an estimated 0-60 mph time of 4.5 seconds. There’s also a performance version with 665 hp and 829 lb-ft of torque, which reduces the 0-60 mph time to 3.5 seconds. The Quad-Motor versions of the R1S and R1T, which launched earlier, had already achieved over 300 miles of range and have seen further range improvements through over-the-air updates.

These Dual-Motor models provide impressive range at a lower price point, helping to address the absence of the base Explore versions of Rivian’s trucks and SUV. Additionally, the company has confirmed the upcoming 180-kWh Max Pack versions with even higher ranges, estimating 390 miles for the R1S and 400 miles for the R1T Max Pack. The achievement of exceeding initial estimates for the Large Pack’s range suggests the potential for even longer ranges with the Max Pack.
