The Volkswagen ID.X Performance represents Volkswagen’s vision of an all-electric sports limousine in the upper mid-sized class, and it was showcased at the ID. Treffen event in Locarno.
This all-electric limousine features various sporty elements in its exterior design, including carbon front splitter and rear diffuser components. The vehicle’s toe has been increased by 80 mm, and the sports suspension, equipped with stiff springs, has been lowered by 60 mm. These modifications significantly enhance the car’s performance and agility. At the rear, a carbon wing provides the necessary downforce, and the tinted tail light clusters contribute to the vehicle’s sporty appearance. The ID.X Performance rides on 20-inch sports alloy wheels with a central lock and is equipped with 265 racing tires. Inside, carbon bucket seats offer excellent support even during dynamic driving.
Under the hood, the Volkswagen ID.X Performance boasts a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system with a combined power output of 411 kW (558 PS). This system combines a permanently excited synchronous motor on the rear axle with an additional asynchronous motor on the front axle. This configuration provides benefits such as short-time overload capability and low drag losses, making it ideal for delivering short-term power bursts through a boost function. The drive torque is managed by a Vehicle Dynamics Manager, which also controls the operation of the rear axle differential lock. The vehicle’s energy comes from the drive battery, allowing for high continuous power output and rapid charging with a capacity of up to 200 kW.
In addition to the ID.X Performance, Volkswagen is also presenting other models from the ID. family at the Locarno event. Last year, Volkswagen garnered excitement among electric vehicle enthusiasts with the introduction of the ID. XTREME and ID. Xcite show cars.
